On 9th of June 2019, DIAN organized a film screening followed by Q&A.
The film shows the Indonesian play Nyanyi Sunyi Kembang-kembang Genjer, which means Silent Songs of the Genjer Flowers. The film is in Bahasa Indonesia with English subtitle.
The play explores testimony and remembrance to address mass killings of 1965- 66 in Indonesia through the memories and experiences of women who survived the violence and persecution of this period. The play shows the somber event from the perspective of its victims.
After looking at the play, attendees have the chance to ask questions to Faiza Mardzoeki (the Film Producer) and/or express their opinions.
